2020 has been a tough year for the country. From the Taal eruption to a global pandemic and devastating typhoons on top of that, the Filipino spirit lives on in our resilience and Bayanihan.

Even weeks after the typhoons have hit the country, so many charities, groups, and individuals are still working to help the victims recover. This Christmas season, get into the spirit of giving by helping those in need. If you don’t have a partner organization or cause yet, here’s where you can donate to the Philippines Typhoon Ulysses victims.

Habitat for Humanity is partnering with Habitat for Humanity to help vulnerable families and communities recover from Typhoon Ulysses and rise against COVID-19. The goal is to reach PHP 500,000 from donations and will match the amount to be able to donate PHP 1 million to the cause.

Even if it doesn’t reach that amount, is still going to match every peso donated to Habitat for Humanity through the to provide hygiene and sanitation kits, provide core houses, and rebuild hope to typhoon-affected families in NCR, Cagayan, and the Bicol region.

Find out how you can help in the Isang Milyon Para sa #UlyssesPHRecovery in this link.

Gawad Kalinga

Gawad Kalinga’s Operation Walang Iwanan is a Go and this time it’s to help provide relief and recovery to the poor communities that were ravaged by Typhoons Rolly and Ulysses. For as little as PHP 250, you can provide a food pack for an entire family; PHP 1000 will cover a relief pack with food, temporary roof cover, sleeping mats, and hygiene kits; and PHP 3000 is enough to feed 5 children for 30 days.

Caritas has a continuous program called Damayan which provides preventive health, emergency assistance, and disaster management programs for 50,000-100,000 families every year. Apart from livelihood assistance, proceeds also go towards post-disaster redevelopment planning. This year, some of the Damayan program’s main beneficiaries will be communities affected by Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses.

Virlanie Foundation Philippines

Virlanie, an organization geared towards “giving back the smile to street children”, launched the program Bangon Bagong Silangan to help the urban poor residents of Barangay Bagong Silangan, Quezon City who have yet to recover from the damages from the past typhoons. With the help of donors, Virlanie provides basic supplies (food, water, shelter) as well as psychosocial first aid to help them cope with the current condition.

Philippine Animal Rescue Team (P.A.R.T)

PART just launched their Christmas Fundraising for this year. Donations will help feed the animals and their families who’ve been hit hard by the recent Typhoons in Bicol, as well as homeless and displaced animals not in their program. With enough funds, PART hopes to enroll more strays in their programs. As a thank you for donors, the volunteers will write donors’ names in a capiz star and showcase the stars in the sanctuary, and post photos on their social media pages. Be sure to email them a copy of your donation receipt along with the name you want them to write on the star.
