Mobile Legends Item Classification

CLASSIFICATION 1 - Effect

Your hero can carry up to six items at a time in one or a mix of these effect categories: Attack, Defense, Magic, Movement, and Jungle. (more info on Effect categories below)

CLASSIFICATION 2 - Tier

Regardless of effect, each item has a branching track or tier that allows you to upgrade them into different or stronger versions of the original item. You call this classification Tiers:

  • Tier I is the most basic form of an item;
  • Tier II is the mid-level upgrade of the basic form; and
  • Tier III is the strongest version of the item.

CLASSIFICATION 3 - Type

The last classification of items is by type. In Mobile Legends, there are two types of Items: Basic and Advanced.

Basic items are items that do not require other items to be purchased or used. On the other hand, Advanced items are items that require a specific recipe of basic items and a combined cost in order to be purchased or used. When this happens, all required basic items in the recipe are consumed.

Effect Categories

Primary vs secondary effects

Each item you acquire provides a primary effect or increase to one or more of your hero stats like HP, Attack Speed, armor, etc. That is a fact across all items. However, some Tier II and Tier III items also provide secondary effects called Unique and Passive effects.

Items with Passive effects add on to abilities or skills of heroes. Auras are a type of supercharged passive that can affect you, nearby friendlies, or nearby enemies -- provided that you continue to fight and not get hit (based on individual Aura conditions).

Items with Unique effects grant additional stats like cooldown reduction and spell vamp but have unique tags that allow them to only be used once and prevent stacking.

Main effect categories

1. Attack Items

Provide boosts to damage and attack stats relating to Physical Attack, Attack Speed, Critical Strike Chance, etc. These are best for heroes with abilities for physical damage.
