What is the AxieCon Tournament?
The AxieCon Tournament was held in Barcelona, Spain and ran in 3 formats. Axie Classic World Championship saw 64,000 players battling it out with Classic Axies from the qualifying period between 28th of July to the 7th of August. The top 16 players got a paid trip to AxieCon and they battled out for a chance at $500,000!
The 2nd format is Axie Origin BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) series, which attracted 2,000 players from different countries battling it out for an opportunity to win $400,000 over 3 days of intense competition.
Lastly, up to 1,024 AxieCon ticket holders competed in heats and climbed their way to top, where they faced the Sky Mavis team for a chance at $100,000!
Coins Watch Party Highlights
Coins organised a watch party to bring the excitement from Barcelona to Manila for both the Axie Classic and Axie Origin finals. A hundred attendees experienced the thrill IRL at Draper Startup House for Entrepreneurs in Makati City. Guests included #Coinmunity members, the #AxiePH community, shoutcasters, streamers, and more!
The event started with a few words from Coins.ph's Managing Director for Philippines, Eprom Galang.

Axie Infinity's Philippines lead, Nix Eniego, also started off with a quick speech:
"This is a very special time for Axie Infinity as we are having the first ever AxieCon currently happening in Barcelona. Axie Infinity has opened up a lot opportunities and we look forward to seeing more to come from different people and also see different strategies and styles."
Nix also shared that there was also a meetup happening in Indonesia at the same time. It was held at Lunacia Coffee, an Axie Infinity themed coffee shop.
One of the biggest event highlights was that Archer and Invictum were physically present at the venue to shout-cast the matches in front of a live audience.
There were also raffle draws during the breaks for the attendees. Lucky winners were able to take home Trezor hardware wallets and SLP plushies.
The hosts also conducted a Fast Talk Crypto Edition game during the breaks. Contestants had to raise their flags and answer the question flashed on the screen. The one with the most points won a Coins.ph shirt and a Ledger Hardware Wallet. Other participants took home Coins.ph crypto vouchers and a Coins.ph shirt as well as consolation prizes.
